Our Philosophy

We have a hands-on, quality over quantity approach, as we strive to bring out the best in our athletes, both on the field and off.

Matt Trate has been with the Slim’s SC family for almost 2 years now. Outside of the complex, he is the Associate Head Coach of Division 2 Goldey-Beacom College, where his primary responsibilities include developing the team’s hitting and offensive philosophies, developing catchers, and serving as recruiting coordinator.

He has served in these roles for the last 6 seasons and has overseen the development of multiple all-conference and all-region players, while helping GBC compete at a national level.

Prior to his arrival at Goldey-Beacom, Trate had stops at the University of Akron (D1) and Cecil College (JUCO) as well as coaching the HS ranks at Hodgson Vo-Tech and Appo.

Trate on why Slim’s Sports Complex: “There is a clear goal and mission at the top of the organization that trickles down and is easy to get behind. Having the opportunity to work with the athletes that live in the same community that my family and I live is something I enjoy. Go Bulldogs!”
